Update of PROAD Professional (Server)

Please follow the steps described below:
• All users must be loged out from PROAD Professional
• Create a backup of the database (see post 'Creating a backup of your database')
• Create a backup of the server directories sql, update und word.
• Update of the server files by using the installer
• Log in at one workstation with PROAD Professional installed and run the update
Update of a Windows server
1. Creating a backup
• Go to the directory „PROAD_tools“ (located in the Front-Base directory of your server; here please start the file ‚backup.bat’ by double clicking it.
• The backup will be done automatically. The backup file will be saved in the Frontbase subdirectory „Backups\<Databasename>.fb“ gespeichert.
2. Update of the server files
• To update the installation on the server, please run the server installer which matches your server operating system (like ps_7.0.xxx_win.zip) by double clicking it. Please select your language (English) and you will be guided through the further process of installation.
• Now, please select the option 'Update'. This funktion looks automatically on your server for an existing server directory and suggests you the relevant path. Click on Next to execute the update.
Info: If you should know the path to the directory 'professionalsrv' you can select it manually by clicking the option 'Installation' - then navigate via the button 'Browse' to the relevant directory.
• Close the installer if the update has been executed succesfully.
3. Start PROAD Professional
• Please start PROAD Professional at any work station and log in. The new files will be copied from the server on to your mashine.
• If the update alos contains an update of the database, a certain dialogue window will appear. You start the update of the database by clicking the button „Go“. As soon as the task is done, the button „Close“ will be activated. By clicking the 'Close' button PROAD Professional will be completely closed.
Notice: If the update of the database shouldn' succeed you won't be able to work with PROAD Professional! In this case please get in contact with the J+DSupport!
• If everything is done you can log in to PROAD Professional again.
Update of a Macintosh server
1. Creating a backup
• Open the FrontBaseManager
• Doubleclick the relevant database (e.g. PROAD)
• Log in as user „_system“ via the button „Open“. in the appearing window, please select the menu item „Backup“ and click the Button „Perform Full Backup“.
Now please deselect the option „Keep transaction log for incremental restore“, start with „Begin Backup“. The backup will be performed now.
• The backup is done.
2. Update of the server files
• To update the server installation of PROAD Professional, please unpack the file ps_7.0_xxx_mac.zip by doubleclick it. The 'real' installation file is available now and can be started (double click). Please select your language now (English) and you will be guided through the installation procedure.
• Select the path to the professionalsrv directory on your server and select 'Install'.
• You can finish the installer, if the update succeeded.
